05.02.2023. Are you happy while doing nothing?

I have 22 subscribers from 9 countries šŸŒŽ at this point and it makes me excited to share my thoughts with you. In my newsletter, I share 5 interesting thoughts every week.

Without further ado, let's begin āš”ļø

šŸ§  Quote that I'm pondering -

The purpose of knowledge is action, not knowledge. - Aristotle.

šŸŽ„ A video connected to the quote above -

This video is from an independent filmmaker who has impressed the world with his documentary style videos and insane story telling. He shares how he fell into the rabbit hole of self-development and maybe we all are in it.

šŸ… A personal win I want to share -

My whole life I was never as consistent with anything as I should've been. 10-12 years ago, when I started playing football, I fell in love shooting šŸ‘Ÿāš½ļø the ball with different techniques. I was consistent only with that one skill. Now 12 years later, guess what still stayed with me? Exactly that skill!

The reason that technique stayed with me is because I kept practicing this skill just for me, just for the sake of it. I didn't want to impress people with it, I didn't have to learn this skill for my job and I definitely didn't have to study it to pass an exam in university. I did it because I was curious about it and I am still curious about it.

It sounds insane but I can literally be in the ground, 20-30 feet away from a tem-mate and practice shooting for 4-5 hours straight šŸ•œ. Eg - A lot of basketballers will literally spend hours & hours drilling the same basic technique over and over again, until it becomes second nature. Any athlete reading this would definitely understand.

So the personal win for me is that I developed the same love for film-making and writing in the last few months āœŒļø. To me that is insane! I never thought as a kid that, I'd fell in love with 2 more skills in the future, to the point where I would learn/practice them daily!

šŸ“˜ Book I am re-reading -

It has great visualizations to keep you interested even in the boring topics!

As an Indian, my maa thinks of me as a disgrace as I've not completed my master's degree. So in order not to be a disgrace, I am doing my MBA from this book šŸ¤£.

Jokes aside, just google this book and click 'images' and read reviews before buying. It's a great refresher on some of the tips and tricks we forget along the way. Those reminders are needed in order to thrive in the world of business.

šŸ¤ A small task I need you to try -

Set a timer and sit with your eyes closed for 30 minutes without any distractions. In the beginning, your mind will wander with past regrets and later it will wander with the tension of the future. I want you to sit through them until your mind comes to the present moment.

A lot of people cannot sit without doing/watching/listening to anything as their anxiety kicks in. A sign of a happy person is that he/she is happy while doing nothing.

Let me know how it goes. If you have anxiety, share it with me. We'll work on it together šŸ˜Š.

That's it from me this week. I love you all!
